It called my atention the begining of the video that says "China will soon become the number one english speaking country in the world is greater than the total population of the United States" because it's ridiculous that a country that doesn't have as mother tongue the english is most spoken in that country than in The United States for example and in the middle of the video more or less says that during the course of the presentation million of children were born, this surprised me
Thanks for your comment, Susana. It really IS amazing that this can happen, isn't it? This obviously shows the enormous power of the English language. We will continue studying it then ;-)
''China will soon become the number one English speaking country in the world''. I think that is very strange because the official language of China isn't English, althought the English is the universal language. Also, people say that in many years, the official language in China, will be the universal language over the world, but not the English. ''Today the number of text messages sent and received everyday, exceeds the total population of the planet''. This phrase called my attention because is a high number. It's amazing that can be real. This means that the new technologies influence all the people in the world and everybody use this modernities. This is good because that it means that the technology advance everyday.
Is very choking that China will soon become the number one English speaking country in the world because it is really that China is one of the biggest countries of the world but English is speaking in USA (another very big country)and in Great Britain too.Furthermore the official language in China isn't English. Another thing that chock me is the users of google every month tnat is of 31 billion person and in 2006 this number was 2,7 billion. The tecnology advance a lot. Also the number of babies born during this presentations and the number of illegaly song download is icredible. Marc Llodrà Mulet 1ºD
I think we get out of hand. We are losing the ethical values and education, our minds become closed to small machines. I think we should change this situation, we are being 'abducted' by the technology. Money makes us greedy. In 50 years we will all idiots.
On the one hand, one of the things that caught my attention is this sentence "If MySpace were a country it would be the 5th-largest in the world (between Indonesia and Brazil)" is absolutely incredible how social networking could be so big, enough to be the 5th largest country in the world. On the other hand, this one, "Years it took to reach a market audience of 50 million - facebook 2 years" caught my attention, Because facebook is surprising as only two years to reach population. however, the tv or the internet reached the population in more time than a social network.
The whole video was very interesting, but what really caught my attention was that 694.ooo songs are being downloaded illegaly while I'm watching this video. Imagine I watch it 10 times... It's incredible how fast Internet is... it's just as incredible as how we manage to make it a tool to steal all that music in 5 minutes!!! Anyway, the video was great!
"China will soon become the number one English speaking country in the world." This phrase caught my attention because China may become the first English speaking country in China since English is not their mother tongue, unlike USA.Other states which also caught my attention is as technology advances, that we are becoming increasingly addicted to it.
It's hard to believe how the world changes, China, for example will be the strongest country in less than 30 years. We must create a new mind, where anybody were worst that anybody, where all changes were to advance, not to lost. Im surprised with the part where Obama can active with only a botton a nuclear bomb whenever he wants, this is not intelligent, the world every time feel more insecurity.
Thanks for your comments. #all: I see that some of you are impressed by the fact that China will be a significant country regarding its English speakers. Remind me to tell you a bit about the 'expanding circle'... ;-) # Isabel: It's true that we are losing some of our values, and that the world is rapidly changing, but don't you think that we could take advantage of the technical development? Could we do it as students (and teacher)? :-)
#Aina: very funny, but whether you watch the video or not... that seems to be happening... whether the SGAE and others like it or not... #Joana: ask your grandparents when did they have their first colour tv
The Technology and information exchange capabilities, a clear example would be the Internet, are moving so quickly that humans can not even keep up with its creation. I think also that The technology is advancing so fast that there are very few rules or regulations, al least to maintain appropiate behavior. I have my doubts about some information in this video but I found it very interesting.
